NOV. 14 and 15th games

Finally, back to .500 with a combined record of 21-21-2.  Instead of taking the weekend off and mourning recovering gun shot victim Todd Roland, and am dedicating these picks to him.  Starting things off with a TR special:

Iowa at Ohio State.  OSU favored by 16.5.  and Alabama at Mississippi St.  with the tid favored by 12.5.  I think Roland would want to tease Iowa up to +22.5 and Alabama down to -6.5.  Instead of keeping him in your prayers play the teaser for him.

Nebraska at Kansas.  O/U 43.  It will take Nebraska 3 games to start sniffing 40 points, and they may have the best defense in the nation.  Take the UNDER.  Nebraska 9  Kansas 5

Virginia Tech at Maryland.  Take Maryland +18.5 at home.  Terps usually play one good home game a year.  I’m guessing this is the week.  Maryland 31  Virginia Tech25

Notre Dame at Pitt.  Take Notre Dame +6.5  Even though Weiss has joined Wanstadt as one of the worst college coaches of all time, ND rebounds with a big win.  Notre Dame 27  Pitt 20

Texas Tech at Oklahoma St.  O/U 58.5.  Love the over in this one especially when both teams are capable of scoring 60 themselves.  Oklahoma State 45  Texas Tech 35

November 7 & 8 games

I posted a 3-4 record last weekend. Missed the Burnett – Martinez blow-up a start to late. That drops the overall record to 16-18-2. Apparently, I’m killing the NFL and getting killed in college football, so…. Take that into consideration when betting these picks.

Wisconsin -10.5 at Indiana. Take the Badgers. Indiana will build on that 4th quarter they played against Iowa, and this game may be over by the end of the first quarter. Wisconsin 38 Indiana 12

Navy +11 at Notre Dame. Take the Midshipmen. They won’t win, but they play there best football against teams they don’t belong on the same field with. Notre Dame 34 Navy 28

Rice at SMU. Over – Under 57.5. Even though Rice’s offense is a bit down, they are playing an offense that would love to put up 60 points. And, the Rice defense is more than capable of giving up 60. SMU 56 Rice 17

Ohio State at Penn St. Over – Under 40. Penn State usually gets out of the gate quick. Ohio State is usually good at coming back from early scores. This has OT written all over it, which is another reason I like the over. Penn St. 31 Ohio State 24 OT

Miami -13.5 at home against Virginia. The real Virginia is back. They will roll over once Miami gets rolling. Miami covers times 2. Miami 37 Virginia 10.

Picks from the 29th to the 1st

I’m climbing back towards the .500 mark.  With a 5-3-1 performance last week, the overall total improves to 13-14-1.  It appears I can handicap with the average guy.

Not a good week to get crazy, so for those of you getting this in the next 3 hours, I have a lock.

 

Phillies at Yankees  -  O/U  9.  Take the OVER!!!!!!!!   Both Martinez and Burnett are going to get shelled.  I’m predicting neither get thru the 5^th inning.

Kansas State +28 at Oklahoma.  I’m not sold on Kansas State, but I’m not sold on Oklahoma scoring 28 points.

Kansas versus Texas Tech.  O/U 67.  Take the over.  This could be covered by halftime.

Notre Dame -28 at home against Washington St.  Take the Irish.  Washington State may be the worst football team assembled the last two years.  I don’t think the Cougars score in this one.   Notre Dame 41 Washington St. 0

 

USC -3 at Oregon.  Take USC -3.  If they want a shot at the National Championship they need to take care of business.

OCTOBER 24th and 25th games

It appears I am back on track going 5-3-1 last week.  That push happening on the worst televised football game of the year in Texas – Oklahoma.  This brings my two week record to 8-11-1.  For you $100 a game gamblers, you are down $410 with my picks.  Not to bad for some of you degenerates.

This weeks games will mostly fit into the let down game format.

Kansas +7.5 at home against Oklahoma.  Take Kansas.  They will try to rebound against an embarrasing perfomance against Colorado.  Oklahoma is coming off an emotional loss to Texas and will be without Bradford this week.  They have to actually score 8 points to cover the 7.5.  Kansas 21 Oklahoma 20.

Missouri +13.5 at home against Texas.  Take Missouri.  Again, I’m taking the let down factor.  The same emotion brought against Oklahoma will not be there against Missouri.  I don’t think Missouri wins but they stay close throughout.  Texas 31  Missouri 24

Mississippi -4.5 at home against Arkansas.  Arkansas just played the game of their life and got dropped by Florida by 3.  They won’t have much left for a good Mississippi team.  Could be a Mississippi blowout.  Mississippi 34  Arkansas 13

Wake Forest +3 at Navy.  Wake hasn’t fared to well lately against Navy, but they are bigger, faster and have more athletes on the team than Navy.  Navy has played well against good competition, but they also haven’t won any of these games.  Wake Forest 31  Navy 27

Georgia Tech -4 at Virginia.  Tech can score and has been playing well lately.  I’m not sold on Virginia yet.  They can’t score, and doubt they will score much on an average Tech defense.  Georgia Tech 38  Virginia 17

Complimentary Pick:  Philadelphia Eagles -7 at Washington Redskins.  Not only are the Eagles coming off an embarrasing loss, but the Redskin offense is pitiful.  A touchdown and fieldgoal may be all it takes to cover this one, unless the Redskin defense scores.  How do you stay within 7 points of the Eagles when you promote a guy who’s been out of the league 2 years to send in the offensive plays.  Apparently, Sherman was living in a retirement community helping out with Meals on Wheels and calling Bingo on Sunday nights the last 2 years.  Now he’s sending in plays for the Washington offense to execute?  Well, it’s an upgrade from Zorn anyways.  Eagles 33  Redskins 10
